the heywood-xilai case seems to be getting stranger. now the crouching tiger chick is involved. she claims it isnt true that she received over usd100m from xilai in exchange for sex over the course of 4 years. ive heard numerous stories about the casting couch in hong kong/china music and movie industry including price lists as if these people were an appetizer menu - so this isnt a far stretch, really.
i think its interesting as most scandals in china wouldnt normally make it to the foreign/western press. however, this is obviously so big and become star-studded that it has. and the idea of china airing its dirty laundry out in public like a scored woman must be very upsetting to government officials. (i could but wont take this opportunity to roll into another public airing of a recent anniversary as ive been reading about all of the posts that have been pulled and sites shut and at the end of the day, its just risky and stupid).
anyway, i suppose if china wants to be the worlds leading super power and take main stage - this is what happens. it happens/happened to the us - youre on top and people just point fingers, try to unearth your dirt and bring you down. so welcome china - i hope you like your time in the spotlight.
